MPC to participate in national workforce housing forum

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, I will be in New York to participate in a panel discussion: Producing Affordable Employer-Assisted Housing – Where the Jobs Go to Sleep at Night. It’s part of the ULI Terwilliger Center’s Workforce Housing Forum. I will provide some examples of the role of Chicago-area businesses have played in helping their employees buy homes near work. Employers have also played a significant role in supporting key housing policy change in recent years, including new stage legislation.

I look forward to learning from the other panelists, who will share examples from Minnesota and California. I am particularly interested in hearing about Thompson Dorfman Partners’ teacher housing development in Santa Clara, which has provided affordable home opportunities for teachers, helped reduce turnover, and improved test scores.

Registration information and agenda for the Workforce Housing Forum is available.
